people aren't just stupid

the unpopular popular opinion that no one asked for: honestly, people aren't stupid or dumb when it comes to COVID19...
They are also arrogant, ignorant, selfish, greedy, entitled, and privileged POS.
Because regardless of all the deaths, research, the mourning of families, the burnout of front-line workers, the harsh reality of a pandemic, there are people that cast all of that to the back burner.
People do not want to do their part because it inconveniences them. They do not want to do their part because they feel like they cannot control their own lives. God forbid someone cannot get their hair done or that wearing a mask "restricts" their breathing. Such struggles should be equated to the patients fighting to survive on ventilators or the front-line workers who can't even give a thought about their physical appearance.
People are impatient, want a quick solution to the pandemic. There's a catch. The solution has to be a way where people can still do whatever they want to do as if life was the way it was before. The solution has to be something that they would be willing to do. For they cannot go through one lockdown and follow simple public health measures even though it would stop the spread if done correctly. No, it's impossible.
Past pandemics are not enough for people. The lessons learned, the research developed, the scientific evidence that is pure common sense, are all invalid to their eyes. The hysteria about vaccines being a government plot. The pleas of healthcare professionals are heard as tyrannical and condescending demands to the people.

Stupid, by definition, is "having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense". Dumb can be interpreted as the inability to process information. But these people are more than these two characteristics because they refuse to acknowledge the plethora of credible data and information. The same people demand evidence of any proposed solution.
The absolute audacity of these people is the slap to the face of frontline workers. The hypocrisy of the empty cheers of praise and gratitude for frontline workers mirrors the pain of being stabbed with a knife, multiple times. How? People want to show a good face, but then do not follow pandemic measures that bring the world back to square one. Back to the beginning. The same people that undo and throw away the blood, sweat, tears, stress, anxiety, depression, isolation, and exhaustion that frontline workers put into their work.
Yet the setbacks are solely the government's fault. Setbacks of the pandemic are anyone's fault, except for these people. They pick and choose what they want to believe, what is true. After all, for them, the pandemic does not apply to them because they are supposedly unaffected. Blindly, they do not realize their indifference, desensitization, and entitlement are what affect others during this battle against COVID.
It is pathetic, hilarious really, at how the world is at war with a disease. It is supposed to be the people against the disease, but it is actually the people against each other.
Thanks for listening to my rant.
